One of our past staffers was a research associate at ICF for 2 years in the Field Ecology department.

His job was to randomly sample eight prairies on site that were planted with the same seed mix, but in different years (1984-1995).

The data he collected continued a 20-year long-term ecological research project, ″Time as an Ecological Factor in the Development of Restored Prairies.″

We learned from this research that one should plant prairies over several years in order to get the best diversity of species.

This makes sense because we have significantly different spring and summer rainfall totals each year along with different winters.
